Win32/Allgro Worm
Allgro is an email worm. This worm will infect Windows systems. The worm arrives with the subject "New antivirus tool" with the following content "Hey, checkout this new antivirus tool which checks your system for viruses." It carries an attachment Antivirus.exe. Upon execution of the attachment, it copies itself into the Windows\System directory as setup30.exe. The worm makes necessary changes to registry to load itself during windows startup. It modifies registry at: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run The worm attempts to remove particular known worms such as Win32/Sircam, Prettypark or Badtrans.A. It removes all the .VBS file along with script.ini and mirc.ini files in the infected computer. This worm first appeared during August 2001.
This worm is also known as Win32/Atirus@m, W32.Allgro@mm, All3gro, I-worm.Atirus,TROJ_ALLGRO.A
