Bymer Worm
Bymer is a worm infects Windows environment. This spreads through open network shares. The file name it is seen is MSINIT.EXE or MS*.EXE (* stands for first segment of the target system's IP address). It modifies the registry so that it can load whenever Windows starts up. It scans for random IP addresses. If it finds a system with a share name "C", it copies the infected file to Windows and Windows\System directory. It will also install a program called dnetc.exe under Windows\System folder. This is a encryption-cracking program from www.distributed.net. Bymer worm first appeared in November 2000.
This worm is also known as Bymer.b, MSINIT.A, W32/Msinit, WORM.RC5.
