Win32/Gop.A Worm
Win32/Gop.A is a ICQ password stealing worm. This worm will infect Windows systems. The worm arrives as an email with attachment.
The attachment filename will have double extension ex: .DOC.EXE, .TXT.EXE.
Upon execution of the attachment, it creates files IMEKernel32.sys
and kernelsys32.exe in Windows System directory with hidden attributes. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run Upon restart, the worm creates a hidden
file called IMEKernel32.sys under root directory of Windows installed
drive.
This worm is also known as Gop.A, Trojan.PSW.GOP.196,
W32.HLLW.GOP.
