W32/Rahiwi.A Worm

 Information about the W32/Rahiwi.A Worm:

W32/Rahiwi.A is a worm. The worm will infect Windows systems and spreads by copying itself to the root of all drives.

Upon execution, the worm creates Data_Rahasia Administrator.exe,Tiwi_Cute.exe, autorun.inf and present.txt in the the root of all drives.

Then worm creates C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\WINDOWS folder, if it does not exist.

It copies itself as the following;

cute.exe, imoet.exe, smss.exe and winlogon.exe in the C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\WINDOWS folder.
smss.exe and winlogon.exe in the C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data folder.
Empty.pif in the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup folder.
IExplorer.exe, rpcss.dll, shell.exe and tiwi.scr in the C:\WINDOWS\system32
tiwi.exe in the C:\WINDOWS folder and also in the root of C drive

It modifies the registry at the following locations to ensure its automatic execution at every system startup:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

The worm also modifies the registry, so that it is executed when .bat, .com, .exe, .inf, .lnk, and .pif files are double-clicked.

It also swaps the mouse buttons, changes the Internet Explorer home page, search page and the window title.

The worm also changes the screensaver.

This worm first appeared on May 7, 2007.
